As a salesman, Dante was an ace. He could sell refrigerators to Eskimos and shampoo to a bald person, he was proud of having sold sand to an Arab sheikh. Six months after opening his used car business profits were booming.

When he reached 50 years old, he decided to change his look. He dyed his hair and mustache black, a rich jet black, the manicurist did his hands and nails. He changed his wardrobe to checked vests, embroidered shirts and crocodile shoes.

Everything would have been great if it weren’t for a few buyers who felt ripped off. One broke his tooth with a tremendous right cross. Dante wasn’t even bothered and went to the dentist to have a gold one put in its place.

Now not only does he thinks he has a better smile, but has a lot more class too which makes him irresistible to women.

An informer had warned police that a large quantity of drugs were going to be delivered near the beltway across the street from the motel “Las Brujas”. Immediately the unit that was on patrol near the location where the deal was going to be down, was called urgently to the scene.

Via the internet, the photo of the main suspect, the terrible “Carrot Top”, was sent directly to the patrol car’s on-board computer. Lieutenant Steve O’Connor, seeing the portrait, felt a strong pain in his stomach. The resemblance with the suspect was unsettling.

Angie, the policewoman as his side, looked at the photo and said, a little troubled, “I have the impression that I’ve seen this guy before.” Cold drops of sweat trickled down the forehead of Lieutenant O’Connor, who was trying to hide his face, said “It’s amazing how all us redheads look alike! …It’s like the Chinese, we all look alike.”

School wasn’t a real passion for the little Richard. The only thing that he really wanted was to drive one day a beautiful automobile.

One morning at school, he was punished for having not done his homework. Extremely angry, his teacher told him that he wouldn’t become of anything in life, that no one would be interested in him and assured him that he would be the laughing stock of the town.

Thirty years later when Lord Richard Walter Eigler bought himself this magnificent sports car equipped with 12 in-line cylinders, a certain jealousy was awakened in his neighbors. His frequent promenades down the streets of Coronda City at the wheel of his splendid automobile drew envious looks and comments. He wasn’t bothered by this, to the contrary, he experienced a subtle and soft trembling of pleasure.

Miss Belkys, tapped at her machine with one finger, not understanding anything about computers, speaking no foreign languages, and on top of that hating accounting and business meetings. Despite these “small” inconveniences, the day of her interview with the president, Mr. Raúl López Monti, she stood out among the 25 best educated candidates in the city and obtained, without too much effort, the coveted position of personal secretary.

As always, there were some jealous ones who said it was because of her plunging neckline and tight fitting skirt. Belkys, convinced herself that she earned the position thanks to the intensive marketing course which she took by correspondence at the Institute of Middle Studies in Tijuana.

The following day and in a rush, the president left with her on a “business trip” for a week at ParadiseBeach, a trip that finally had to be extended to a month.

Back to the office, the new secretary asked for a raise which was immediately granted. Moreover, her boss announced that she had been an excellent assistant despite the fact that she hadn’t taken a single note because she had forgotten all the files at the office.

After having won the lottery, Charlie and Pete insisted that they be addressed as Charles Edward and Pierre Henri. The first thing they did was to buy some designer brand clothes, ‘Hollywood’ style sunglasses, and a tanning lamp so they could have that perfect “Caribbean” tan. They had the hair removed from their chests and backsides and started using anti-wrinkle cream. They didn’t forget to buy flamboyant gold watches and to top everything off, they bought themselves the very best, their dream car, a collector’s convertible that became the envy of the neighborhood.

They went out for a ride around town pretending to be VIPs. They stopped at a street corner with the music full blast. Talking very loud, they exchanged the 5 or 6 words in French that they knew. Seeing two sculptured beauties approaching, they said to themselves, “these two are ours.”

When the two babes passed in front of them, Charles Edward puffed up his chest, stroke a suave pose, and cocking his head to the side, said “excuse me, girls, haven’t we already see each other somewhere?”

The two girls completely ignored him, and without saying a word, continued their way.

Desperate, Pierre Henri, risked throwing in, “uh, girls you wouldn’t like to take a little car ride, would you?” And he heard one girl saying to the other “just where do these clowns come from?”

After an hour without having the slightest success, Charlie said “And what if we went to have a beer?” “Ehh, sure, why not?” answered Pete.

Their heads down and dragging their feet, they went in the direction of the corner bar to finish the night as usual.

Doctor Jorge Perochena never liked playing tennis. To him it was a boring game which only consisted in hitting a little yellow ball.

But the day he learned that the vivacious Adriana Harari loved the sport, he enrolled right away in an intensive course at the Roland Club Tennis, bought himself a top of the line racket, smart looking shorts, a Crocodile shirt and tennis shoes with air cushioned heels. A week later, he invited her to play a friendly match.

Jorge lost the match in two sets, 6-0/6-0, but did manage to hit the ball three times keeping it in the court once. All that was unimportant to him because on that day he obtained his goal: cruise on his scooter with the superb Adriana on the back, her arms tightly wrapped around him.

The majestic Rolls Royce glided without making a sound along the roads of the town of Mar del Plata. Daisy, the little Pekinese of Lady Marta Spelanzon, Duchesse de Plataci, dozed on the back seat at the side of her mistress.

“Perkins”, said Lady Marta to her chauffer, “Please drive slower, you are going to mess up the hair of my little Daisy.”

Perkins, raised an eyebrow, glanced in his rear view mirror, raised his foot a little off the accelerator and asked, “Does this speed suit Madame?”

The Duchesse, without saying a word, caressed Daisy’s diamond collar, lifted her head and drew a long smoke on her cigarette holder. The tip of the cigarette turned an incandescent red. Lady Marta, couldn’t hide a small smile of satisfaction, and a gentle spiral of smoke enveloped her capeline hat.

Even if it looked like rain, Bob wanted to play golf at all costs. It really wasn’t easy, but he managed to convince Steve, his best friend, to play a game. After having selected the perfect club for a rainy day, Bob prepared for his first swing when a black cloud began to cover the sky. He raised the club above his shoulders in a perfect backswing. A few small drops began to wet the green, but he concentrated on where he was going to hit the ball, he raised his iron a little higher when….lightening struck barely ten meters away. Even if he was still shaking three days later, he managed to make the longest drive in history. We still haven’t found the ball.

When I meet the guys at the bar, they always tease me about my little beer belly. “Who are you going to seduce with that hippopotamus stomach?” say the jokers. “You and your bike are definitely losers” and they laugh like hyenas.

They could never have imagined Betty’s excitement when I invited her to go for a ride. “Antique bikes fascinate me” she exclaimed when climbing on the back and hugging up close to me. “Let’s go, sugar, take off, I love this stuff.”

I couldn’t believe it, the sensual body pressed against me was the most sought after girl in the neighborhood. I stopped in front of the bar, looked inside and with an arrogant smile, gunned the throttle. Just looking at the faces of the guys and I knew they were going to have trouble sleeping that night.

Abel Robino rode unperturbed on his magnificent motorcycle. He knew that women were crazy about him. They adored his beautiful tattoos, his athletic physique and his luring profile. Robino, however, had only eyes for his motorcycle.

The only thing that interested him in the entire world was to speed to SturgisCity to attend, in August, the legendary and fabulous Black Hills Motor Classic.

After 10 years of uninterrupted riding, he had acquired both experience and self confidence, but what he without a doubt had caught, was an insupportable irritation on his rear end. While letting nothing appear on his face, he continued his route expressionless, like a knight of modern times.

Calolo Oviedo had always been a dandy. He adored the company of young women with long legs and voluptuous shapes. The day he met Delma, he fell in love immediately, love at first sight. And when the ravishing Delma learned that Mister Oviedo owned many oil wells, she also fell madly in love.

An afternoon of wild passion, Calolo was at the point of sinking his yacht. You should have seen him running, with little hops, from the bow to the stern, in his bathing trunks, with a bottle of Champagne in the hand, chasing the woman of his heart.

What passion! Even if Calolo had to stand on a little bench to kiss his beloved and take pills to maintain his vigor, the fervor of his love was rising like his shares on the stock market. Up until the moment when he passed out and his doctor advised him to calm his love lust.

When I saw its sensual curves, I immediately fell in love. The elegant air and incomparable way of moving made me lose by mind. It was love at first sight. This small beauty is and will always be my favorite car.

The only problem is that when the whole family goes shopping we are a little cramped when we come home. The other day, coming back from grocery shopping, I had to ask the neighbor to help my wife getting out of the car because she was stuck between the cans of tomatoes and the washing powder. And don’t forget the mouth to mouth method we had to give my son and to his sister as well, who had a jar of whipped cream on her head, we had to handle the spatula with care to lose as little as possible.

Me, I didn’t have any trouble, without really noticing I had sat on a stick of butter and just slipped out of the car with no problem.

Pascale and Dominique loaded the car with fruit, books, brushes, tubes of oil paint, canvases and an old easel. They went out without any specific direction with the sole desire to find a beautiful landscape to contemplate and to reproduce as a painting.

In the back seat, ‘Aramis’, the dog, jumped for joy on the tubes of oil paint, spraying paint in a ‘happening’ of colors. From the left front wheel came a strange noise, the suspension was in a sorry state, the car paint, rusted and cracked, was a pale reminder of the original color.

The body had suffered over time and had a few good dents, but the engine … ah the engine, with its characteristic musical purr, a feast for the ears, something sublime, magical! What else could we ask? Total happiness!

The deafening sound of a siren hammered the eardrums of the people in the street.

An ambulance crossed town at high speed.

Two accident victims with broken limbs, multiple contusions and various other injuries were being transported to the emergency room. A young nurse with an exuberant body and shapely curves was providing very sensual emergency care which made them forget all suffering. Meanwhile, the driver suffered from a slight strabismus though it did not prevent him from swerving dangerously through the hundreds of cars who, at that hour, clogged the roads of the town.

He just missed two light poles, grazed 14 cars, hit two motorcyclists and rammed a truck, but his orders were to arrive as fast as possible.

The first to be taken to the emergency room was the paramedic who had been sitting next to the driver; he had arrived unconscious with symptoms of cardiac arrest.

Gustavo Lopez had just enlisted the army as a private. At five o’clock in the morning the piercing call of the bugle signaled to form ranks. “The General’s pet bird is in danger,” roared the corporal while chewing on a piece of gum.

“We must go behind enemy lines to rescue the General’s parrot, which escaped from its cage. Our honor is at stake” he insisted. “We must save this poor animal from the clutches of those cruel, heartless idiots, no matter even if we die in trying; the important thing is to do our duty! Hail to the nation!” “ Long live the nation!” they replied in unison.

The soldier Lopez swallowed his saliva he felt his temples throb, his vision became cloudy, his stomach made a strange noise and two large drops of sweat ran down his forehead.

Bill was horribly bored at work. His only escape was reading novels about the sea and pirates. His heroes were Sandokan, Blackbeard, Jack Sparrow and Popeye. One day he decided to build an extraordinary sailboat from an old bathtub, rusted pipes and old sheets. To the cry of “Ship Ahoy!” he took the sea for a trip around the world and his dream to become a corsair became reality. It took only 5 minutes for his superb sailing vessel to sink, but Bill, far from being discouraged, refloated the boat and to the cry “Hoist the Colors” again launched himself to conquer the oceans.

The Fireball
The splendid fire red car, majestic, impeccable, always clean and brilliant, was there, making everyone envious.  Juan Manuel looked at it calmly. He placed a hand on the hood caressing it slowly as if it were a beautiful young woman. He seated himself behind the wheel, started the motor and a purr surged from deep inside the car.
He accelerated again and again making it roar until arriving to his ears came a sublime music, a soft harmony, something heavenly, a symphony of connecting rods and pistons.  He shut his eyes to better appreciate the harmony when suddenly, he heard a “cough! cough! cough!…”
Horrified, he saw thick black smoke come from under the hood.  It was at this precise moment, that he remembered that he forgot to put back the plug of the oil pan.

The Fire Engine
A deafening siren howled in the crowded streets of RosarioCity. The fire truck, moving at high speed, left passer-by’s perplexed. Everyone watched the enormous mass with surprise as it managed to zig-zag through the ocean of cars.  Ten minutes of high speed driving sufficed the brave firemen to arrive just in time to prevent, Mimi, the cat of the ravishing blonde Maria Alicia Vicari, from falling out of the tree where it was taking her siesta in the sun. Our heroes battled for 45 minutes, but after numerous scratches and bites, they managed to bring down the intractable animal.
With applause from the neighbors, they returned the feline to her mistress who by mistake let the cat escape. The charming kitty, with a superb leap, managed to climb even higher.  Fortunately, the ladder was still in place.

It’s incredible the interest that I awake in women and it’s amazing the way that they are attracted to my admirable physique. Each time a woman sees me pass, she is fascinated. Few women can resist my charm.
All that, thanks to my captivating look, my ravishing smile, and my sexy Greco-roman profile.  I am even forced to hide behind mirrored sunglasses to try and pass incognito.
Jealous people just make me laugh, they say that women are not interested in me, but in my powerful Shelby Cobra 427 S/C® which I drive everywhere, but that… that is only what the jealous ones think.

‘Bowleggs’ Alfredo Pozzi, was an ace, a master at dribbling the ball. During the Richieri school matches no one could stop him. We all envied him. One day he managed to dribble past two huge brutes from sixth grade. Can you imagine that? He left them standing in their tracks. A genius. And the touch of the ball that he had was…..incredible. But of course, later, when he grew up, he learned to appreciate the good life, eat well, drink well…and you know, when we start to get a little chubby, things get complicated.

Last Sunday we had a match at the club. Listen-up, I’ll tell you what happened and it gives me goose bumps. Bowleggs Pozzi was playing number 10 position, after about 15 minutes, it was a shame to watch him. For his first corner kick, I don’t what happened, but, in fact, he wanted to kick the ball.

He got ready, took a few steps and ….made one of those magical kicks. If he had touched the ball, it would have been playable, but his stomach caused him to lose balance and he took a huge swipe in the grass.

This week, I tried calling every day, but didn’t get an answer…I don’t know, he must have left on a trip.

The cup, of which he dreamed holding in his hand for so many times, became a reality. Neither the sprain in his shoulder blade, nor the horrible tendonitis in his left arm could keep the tenacious Gustavo Lanzaro from raising up high the trophy that he had just won. The ‘missiles’ at 249 km/h which his opponent was firing managed to break 4 rackets, but not his moral courage.

His coach, the famous Spaniard Pepe Galleta, inspired by the renown ‘Serrano’ ham, made him follow a strict diet of only and exclusively acorns for the period of one year. The hard months of training were terrible, but compared to such an excellent victory, the sacrifice seemed justified.

The only unpleasant thing was the beastly bad breath which wouldn’t go away and the pronounced aversion for the Iberico ham.

The hole was far away, Mauro Rugolin needed to hit hard, but with accuracy. He knew he could do it; several times, he had seen Tiger do the same. That afternoon, a crowd had come to see him and they were all hoping to witness his magnificent drive.

He spread his legs exactly how one should. In perfect synchronization, he initiated a rotation of his shoulders and waste while stabilizing his right knee just a little. At first, he glanced an instant at his distant objective while drawing a small smile of self-importance. He continued his impeccable movement while concentrating on the little white ball.

He remained immobile several seconds and with all his force…gave a tremendous whack lifting an enormous clod of earth. The little ball was never found, but the clod of earth finished its arc on the head of the referee, who had to be hospitalized because of a huge bruise above his left eye.

After having watched during his entire childhood ‘The Lucille Ball Show’, Pipo Saulle, became a television addict. He watches every series and soap opera that is shown. In his eyes, the remote control is the best invention since the tele. He doesn’t stop channel surfing a single instant and he knows all the showbiz gossip.

He knows the advertisements by heart and can guess the brand of a product even before it appears on the screen; at this game, he is unbeatable. When he wins, he raises his arms to the sky, makes the V for victory sign and yells while circling the coffee table “I won, I won.”

His other passion is popcorn and hamburgers which he chasses down with enormous gulps of ice cold beer. My God! Life is good! If he didn’t have to work, he would have the impression of being in paradise.

The coolness of the shade beneath the willow was an invitation to relax. It was nap time. The scent of lavender and wild flower permeated the air. In the distance, one could hear the cicadas singing. The calm water reflected the flight of two swallows in a splendid blue sky.

The end of the afternoon was approaching and Daniel was still sitting calmly, watching the little cork bobbing to the peaceful rhythm of the ripples on the water. It had been a while since he had had a nibble, but to be honest, at this spot, it was unusual for something to nibble.

Three years ago, when the famous Icelandic volcano erupted, the immense spread of land owned by Chief Executive Officer Richard John Goldsilver was covered by 30 cm of ashes which drove the man to the brink of bankruptcy. More than a few thought that it was the end to his empire, but that was not counting on the perspicacity and business acumen of the chief executive. He had the good idea to put the ashes into sacs and sell them as a high quality powder to polish metals, but also in mixing them with almond oil, he made a cream that was effective in toning skin and eliminating wrinkles. His fortune was multiplied by five. And that’s not all; he is patiently waiting for the next eruption.

During her childhood, Vera Timmons witnessed numerous acts of delinquency. One day she saw her little neighbor, Peter ‘Freckles’, with a sarcastic smile, rip in to pieces the teddy bear of her friend Katherine. The following week, the same Peter, armed with a slingshot, broke Mrs. Carrigan’s window. Another day, ‘Freckles’ stole a handful of candy by putting his filthy hands in Aunt Mary’s candy bowl. Even if Vera witnessed everything, everyone said that she was lying and accused her little sister as the author of the crime.

Injustice, that is, the injustice of having said the truth and nobody believed her, is what led Vera Timmons to the study of law.

The years passed and after a brilliant career at the university, Vera was proud to exercise the profession that she so much desired. The only thing that she will never be able to understand is how that horrible Peter ‘Freckles’ who eventually went into politics, could become senator.

At the hospital in Rosario, all the male staff suffered from stiff necks. The administration decided to look into the problem and discovered that the cause was the sensual swaying of the hips of Doctor Evangelina Gonzalez.

Her ample cleavage and tight dresses turned the heads of all the male staff, except Toni, the nurse, whose interest in the opposite sex was, well, an illusion. The administration suggested to Doctor Gonzalez that she calm things down a little, but Evangelina wouldn’t listen.

So they decided to transfer her to another unit. Two weeks later, all the cases of stiff neck disappeared, both doctors and patients. Because they all followed Evangelina. The only one who stayed was Toni.
